What the desktop app adds
A local workspace
Open a folder from your Mac next to the canvas. Browse, search and edit its files, and use Git and a terminal without leaving the app.
Coding agents on your own keys
Start a Claude or Codex agent on the folder from a chat or note. It runs on your own API key, can ask before it runs a command or edits a file, and works on its own branch until you review and apply its changes.
Keys that stay on your Mac
Agent keys are encrypted on your Mac with a key from the macOS keychain, and never reach our servers. They are separate from the keys you add in Settings on the web.
System requirements
- macOS 13 Ventura or later
- A Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor
- An Asterism AI account, and a connection to sign in. Canvases you have opened on the Mac, and your folders, also work offline.
- For agents: your own Anthropic API key (Claude) or OpenAI API key (Codex)
